Event Details

Artists Isabel Beavers and Laine Rettmer will lead a video workshop with ICA Teen Program in conjunction with their collaborative exhibition MELT currently on view at Fort Point Arts Community Gallery. The workshop explores mythology and origin story through crafting of mythological identities. We will explore our own origin stories and make video portraits of ourselves adorned as mythological characters. The workshop will include brainstorming through story-telling and writing exercises, followed by video production including shooting with a green screen and digital camera, as well as simple editing techniques to turn the footage into portraits. The workshop will take place at the ICA Boston Saturday, March 2 and Sunday, March 3 from 12pm-4pm.

MELT was created during and following a residency at the Skaftfell Center for Visual Arts in Seydisfjordur, Iceland. The exhibition includes a body of video, photographic prints, and sculptural works that reinterpret Norse mythological origin stories through a feminist, science-fiction lens. MELT is on view through March 7 2019 at FPAC Gallery, 300 Summer St. Boston, MA.
