Call For Work

The history of Fort Point is one of continuous movement and transition often without the input of its people.  It has witnessed the diminishment of its arts community and the re-introduction of commerce in its place.  With this history in mind the exhibition, Be/Come, invites the public and the FPAC community to bear witness to the becoming that occurs when an artwork is transformed in and by the space of the gallery.  Over the course of 2 months, Emily Brodrick and Kate Halcomb Hale will host four evening events encouraging the public to come and observe the slow buildup of four, large-scale installations in real time.

As part of the exhibition, Emily and Kate seek additional FPAC collaborators for one evening – potentially longer depending on the nature of the work – to highlight the voices of the FPAC community. We are seeking performance-based work (i.e. music, readings, dance, video or sound) exploring themes relating to/in dialogue with ideas of movement, transition, construction and destruction.

To apply, please email emilycbrodrick@gmail.com including:

– a short statement describing the proposed performance/artwork

– two work samples (video, pdf, audio file)

– link to your website/instagram

Submission deadline: April 12th at midnight

Location: Assemblage FPAC Gallery at ENVOY Hotel

Exhibition dates: May 1 – June 29, 2019

Date for performance: TBD
