Jane Deutsch is a sculptor and painter working in marble, alabaster and encaustics.

Her work is connected on two levels. The translucent nature of alabaster allows light to flow through stone, revealing its own inner beauty, and the marble sculptures employ a variety of textures.

The encaustic paintings are mixed media and use a variety of organic and other materials such as paper, metal and fabric. The layering of wax in encaustic paintings permits the artist to explore dimensionality and luminosity and capture the results in time and place.
