The point of departure for my current work is a schematic computer drawing constructed to loosely resemble pockets of air in the lungs. Against this printed armature I work with wax & oil to investigate ephemeral structures that briefly come into being — similar to emergent behavior patterns in schools of fish or flocking birds.

The act of pushing organic, sensual marking against the hard edges of a computer drawing echoes our ever-increasing mingling of flesh with technology, reflecting my visceral reaction to the wonder and horror of modern medical procedures and ìadvancesî in the vein of embedded chips.

These works are rumination on hope for the continuing possibility of free will in the presence of our invented machines.
